The path that leads through pleasant pasture;
The path that leads through forest tall,;
The path that leads to refreshing water;
God guides me through the path of life.

The gravel path, smooth and clean;
The muddy path that clings and claws;
The path well trodden, the path avoided;
Christ challenges me which path of life to take.

The friendless path between tower blocks of sullen concrete;
The frightening path through cardboard city lined with empty hope;
The anonymous path through glistening malls and tempting streets;
The Spirit cries along the paths of life.

The path of saints and prophets and martyrs;
The path of Church and praise and people;
The path of work and prayer and penitence;
The path of God, Creator, Saviour, Spirit,
Leads me from death to life eternal.
