When God appeared to Moses at the burning bush, Moses asked God “What is your name?” God replied “Yahweh.” This name is difficult to translate but means something like ‘I am who I am’ or I will be who I will be.‘ It tells us that God is the source of all life - all things that exist come from God .
When God appeared on earth in Jesus Christ, the source of all life became part of the life of the world. Jesus gives us different pictures of who God is and John’s Gospel records the words of Jesus that tell us that Jesus can give us a full and meaningful life. |
