Hector Protector

Hector Protector was dressed all in green;
the finest of knights that you ever have seen.
His sword was the Spirit
and faith was his shield,
so Hector Protector to fear did not yield.

Hector Protector was dressed all in brown.
He rode on his stallion through country and town,
proclaiming the Gospel
and peace in the land.
Our Hector Protector – a very brave man.

Hector Protector was dressed all in red.
Before him the dragons of evil all fled.
The Word was his guide.
The cross was his crown.
Hector Protector – one of God's own.

Hector Protector was dressed all in white.
He fought for the good and the just and the right.
His armour was prayer.
His courage was hope.
Hector Protector – our example to note.

Hector Protector was dressed all in blue.
He was brave and courageous, honest and true.
His faith was in Christ,
as his God and his King.
So Hector Protector his battles did win.

Hector Protector – a knight for all time.
His life and his faith can also be mine.
With Christ in my actions,
my head and my heart
like Hector Protector – God’s right from the start
.

The Rhyme, Hector Protector is an old nursery Rhyme:

Hector Protector was dressed all in green,
Hector Protector was sent to the Queen,
The Queen did not like him,
No more did the King,
So Hector Protector was sent back again.

This version of the rhyme is a reflection on the passage about the "armour of God" in Ephesians 6: 10 - 18.
